}Frequently asked questions
Is a free email provider the same as a disposable one?
No. A free provider (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.) is a real, permanent mailbox people genuinely use — just not tied to a business. A disposable domain is built to be thrown away after one use. We classify these as two separate, distinct categories.
How do you know Gmail/Yahoo are free providers if your crawler never classifies them that way?
Honestly: our crawler can't reliably "discover" that gmail.com is a free provider just by crawling it — nobody needs to crawl to know that. So we maintain a small, curated fallback list of major providers (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud, AOL, ProtonMail, Zoho, GMX, Yandex, Mail.ru), used only when the crawled data has no answer. The response's source field tells you which one actually answered.
Do you also detect smaller, less common free providers?
Yes — beyond the curated major-provider list, 3,576+ additional free-provider domains are identified from real crawled data, covering smaller and regional providers a curated list alone would miss.
Should I block signups from free email providers?
That's a business decision, not ours to make for you — a lot of real, legitimate B2C and even B2B users sign up with Gmail. Most customers score or route leads differently by type rather than blocking any of them.
